That's the clear conclusion from LinkedIn's latest global report on the most in-demand skills in the job market in 2024.

“Personal skills will become increasingly important for individual career development,” LinkedIn predicts Aneesh Raman. “Collaboration between people will become more central to business growth.”

A recent LinkedIn survey found that 9 out of 10 global executives agree that “soft skills” are more important than ever. It is therefore not surprising that communication ranks number one on the list of the most demanded skills in 2024 🙋

The top list of most demanded skills in 2024:

  1. Communication - In an age of hybrid work, we communicate across a growing number of channels and platforms, creating new challenges for communication.
  2. Customer relations - AI has brought about major changes in customer service, but there are parts of this process that cannot or should not be automated. Empathy and trust are highly central and cannot be created by anything other than a human being.
  3. Leadership - Effective leadership is a central part of today's fast-changing world, both at the individual and organizational level.
  4. Project Management - In an era of complex workflows, human project management is becoming more and more important.
